CEREC 3D scanners

For over 20 years, our CEREC 3D scanners have allowed us to make same-day crowns. However, we can now use the same digital impression system to collect the information required to provide SureSmile Aligners treatment without needing those goopy impressions. Furthermore, digital images are usually more accurate and more comfortable, allowing you to start your case much faster.

Capabilities of 3D Printing in Dentistry

Replace or Fix a Broken Tooth

The dentist uses a tiny digital wand to scan the patient's mouth. A 3D image of the teeth and gums is produced and then saved as a computer file. The dentist can design the tooth repair digitally using computer-aided design (CAD) software, and a 3D printer can produce the finished product.

Make a Model for Orthodontics

Before the invention of 3D printers, braces or Invisalign treatments required the patient to bite into goopy, uncomfortable clay to harden into a mold. With 3D printing, this is not true. A dentist can use technology to scan the patient's teeth, design an orthodontic appliance, and print the finished product on-site.

Create Dentures, Crowns, Bridges, Caps, and More

All varieties of dental implants can be 3D printed using the same method described above. The specific substance used in the printing process is the only difference.
